Classes
It's never too late to learn how to draw or paint . Henri Matisse, a famous painter, first started painting when he was 20. If you love something enough, you can learn about it any time, you don't have to have learned as a child in order to be an artist.
This is one of the many reasons why I want to share what I've learned as an artist in a friendly, fun, and affordable environment. Having taught in a studio in the past, a passion for teaching and sharing my knowledge overwhelmed me, and I've continued to do so from home to this day.
I will provide lessons to anyone at any age, or any skill level. Whether you've been drawing for years and want to touch up on your skills, or have barely picked up a pencil. All of my classes are private, one on one and personalized to fit each student's individual needs. Art is a personal journey, so although I have materials prepared, I don't have a set "curriculum" as different people learn at different speeds and in different ways.
How do classes work, are they only in person?
My classes are either in person, or online. Either way, the classes are once a week for two hours (paid for monthly). This can be at whatever time is best for you. All students are allowed to ask me for advice, red-lining, and paint-overs at any time, in or out of class.
In person, the student visits my home and we work together there. Sketchbooks and all other materials are provided by me at no extra cost.
Online, me and the student use "Google Hangouts" or "Discord" to share each other's screens and draw together. If the student does not have a drawing tablet, they can draw on paper and take photos. Unfortunately, at this time, materials like drawing tablets can not be provided as they can be costly. If online, the student will have to decide on their own if this is worth it for them to purchase. Traditional art is a completely valid way to learn art so don't feel pressured to go digital if you can't or don't want to. We can still do classes if you'd like to stay traditional and online.
How much do they cost?
My classes are subscription based at $120 USD a month. We will have a 2 hour class once a week, and you are allowed to contact me at any time in between for help and advice including red-lining and paint-overs.
If you'd still like some assistance but $120 is not within your price range, you can try the "Sprout" tier on my Patreon for
$50 USD to get unlimited red-lining, paint-overs, and general advice, but no classes.
How do I apply?
The easiest way is to use Patreon. On my page, here, chose the "Kodama" tier. After you've successfully applied for the Kodama tier, you'll be redirected to a thank you page with a link to my Discord server, and I will contact you shortly after either through Discord or email. There, we will work out some specifics, like your skill level or interests, so I can plan your first class. Depending on what time of the month you applied, we'll decide when the first class is. This is because Patreon payment are taken at the beginning of each month, so if you applied late in the month, we will start the following month after the first payment has been received.
If you are not interested in using Patreon, the alternative is to use Paypal. If you'd like to use Paypal, please contact me here and I will respond shortly through email. We will still run classes the same way, through Hangouts and / or Discord.
If you have additional questions or concerns, you can contact me any time and I'll do my best to work with you.
